Mayra Pinheiro é considerada defensora do chamado ‘tratamento precoce’ contra a covid-19; ela chegou ao Ministério da Saúde após a eleição de Bolsonaro e depois de perder eleição ao Senado pelo Ceará

A CPI da Covid no Senado ouve nesta terça-feira, 25, a secretária de Gestão do Trabalho e da Educação na Saúde do Ministério da Saúde, Mayra Pinheiro. Ela é conhecida como “capitã cloroquina” por ser considerada defensora do chamado “tratamento precoce” contra o novo coronavírus, um conjunto de medidas sem comprovação científica para tratar o vírus que inclui o uso de medicamentos como cloroquina e ivermectina.
Cearense, Mayra foi candidata ao Senado pelo PSDB em 2018. Com 882 mil votos, não se elegeu. Opositora dos irmãos Ciro e Cid Gomes, a médica começou a ganhar projeção ainda no governo de Dilma Rousseff por criticar, como presidente do sindicato dos médicos do Ceará, o programa Mais Médicos. Após a eleição de Jair Bolsonaro, ela foi nomeada para o cargo no Ministério da Saúde por indicação do ex-ministro Luiz Henrique Mandetta (DEM).
O requerimento para que Mayra fosse ouvida na CPI partiu de senadores da oposição, que querem explicações sobre a defesa de tratamento sem comprovação científica, a postura que vai ao encontro dos posicionamentos de Bolsonaro e detalhes da ação federal no Amazonas durante a crise de falta de oxigênio em Manaus.
“Mayra Pinheiro é titular de secretaria nacional no Ministério da Saúde. Portanto, a autoridade responsável pela tomada das decisões que desencadearam os fatos descritos. Nessa condição, tem relação direta com os fatos e precisa responder por essas decisões”, disse à Agência Senado o senador Humberto Costa (PT-PE), um dos integrantes da CPI da Covid. “Presenciamos a falta de oxigênio, especialmente no Amazonas. Há falta de medicamentos básicos, como sedativos para a intubação dos pacientes, enquanto sobram medicamentos sem nenhuma comprovação científica”, afirmou o vice-presidente da comissão, Randolfe Rodrigues (Rede-AP).
Assim como fez o ex-ministro da Saúde Eduardo Pazuello, Mayra buscou o Supremo Tribunal Federal (STF) para obter um habeas corpus preventivo para poder ficar em silêncio durante seu depoimento. Ela alegou “temor” em razão do que descreveu como “agressividade” dos senadores ao inquirir os depoentes da comissão. Em uma primeira decisão, o ministro Ricardo Lewandowski negou o pedido. Mayra solicitou que a decisão fosse reconsiderada. Lewandowski, então, autorizou apenas que a secretária deixe de responder a perguntas relacionadas a fatos ocorridos entre dezembro do ano passado e janeiro deste ano, quando houve o colapso no Amazonas.
Mayra é apontada como uma das responsáveis pela indicação do médico Hélio Angotti Neto para o cargo de secretário de Ciência, Tecnologia, Inovação e Insumos Estratégicos do ministério. Angotti, que também deve ser ouvido na CPI, é seguidor do guru bolsonarista Olavo de Carvalho. Mayra e Angotti seriam os responsáveis por organizar, em setembro de 2020, o chamado “Dia D” contra a covid-19, que consistiria em orientar a população sobre o “tratamento precoce” em Unidades Básicas de Saúde (UBSs), mas que terminou não ocorrendo.
